From July 7 - 11, Ballet Petit will welcome the return of Laura Alonso, one of the foremost figures alive today in classical ballet. Laura is the daughter of famed Cuban ballerina, Alicia Alonso. Laura taught a Master Class here years ago. Miss Peggy also knows her from time spent together in Copenhagen, Denmark at the Royal Danish Ballet Theatre.
Ms. Alonso will teach a series of 2- 90 minute classes for Int. 2- Advanced from 12:45 pm - 4:00 pm in our Studio A. Dancers will not want to miss experiencing classes from this Master Teacher, Master Coach, Master Choreographer, etc. Dancers will experience exciting classes that will enhance their training and inspire them.
Space will be limited and filled on a first come first served basis. Guarantee your space today. Reserve your space by submitting your fee of $350 by March 31 OR $375 after April 1, if space remains. Please write Alonso Week on your payment, payable to Ballet Petit.
Ms. Alonso will also be available for private coaching/private lessons at $175 per hour. Priority will be given to dancers based on their enrollment in the full week. These privates will be scheduled around Ms. Alonso's availability and the Ballet Petit Summer Session classes.
About Laura Alonso
Laura Alonso, daughter of world famous international prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, and renowned teacher and coach Fernando Alonso, is herself known as a teacher, coach and an expert at staging the well-known classics. For seven years, she was the personal coach and teacher for Mme. Alicia Alonso. Former Dance Theatre of Harlem ballerina, Virginia Johnson who is now artistic director of Dance Theatre of Harlem calls her, "international master teacher extrordinare".
Ms. Alonso has been a coach, jury member and teacher at each of the Jackson International Ballet Competitions where in 1990 she won an award for "Best Coach". She has served as Jury member of the Concours International de Dance de Paris, France, the Alicia Alonso International Ballet Competition and other competitions around the world.
A teacher of world-class experience, Ms. Alonso has taught for the Ballet National de Cuba, the Royal Danish Ballet, the Australian Ballet, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Royal Ballet School, Tokyo Ballet and others. Today she travels around the world teaching and staging the classics for pre-professional as well as professional companies.
